ARRI Undergoes Change of Ownership

Robert Arnold, the son of one of the co-founders of The ARRI Group, is selling his 50 percent share to the grandchildren of co-founders Richter/Stahl. Both families have shared responsibility for the company since it was founded 95 years ago.

Founded in 1917 with headquarters in Munich, Germany, Arnold and Richter Cine Technik (A&R) is the world's largest manufacturer and distributor of motion picture camera, digital intermediate (DI) and lighting equipment. The ARRI Group comprises a global network of subsidiaries, agents and representatives that covers all aspects of the film industry, including design, engineering, production, equipment rental, turnkey lighting solutions, post-production, film and sound laboratory services, and visual effects. Manufactured products include the groundbreaking ALEXA digital camera system, film cameras, professional camera accessories, cutting-edge LED lighting and DI solutions such as ARRISCAN, and archive tools.

The globally active company, previously run by both families, will now be in the sole responsibility of the Richter/Stahl family. The Stahl family has expressed its intention to continue pursuing the media business of ARRI in the Bavarian film and media industry as well as internationally.

ARRI has a global presence with offices in Australia, Canada, the USA, Italy, the UK, Hong Kong and China (Beijing office opened in early 2012) and more than 50 service and support partners worldwide.

ARRI offers a full spectrum of services under the ARRI Media Services banner (ARRI Rental, ARRI Film & TV, ARRI Productions and ARRI Worldsales), including project planning, equipment, on-set and near-set services, postproduction, archiving, and collaboration as co-production partner or global distributor.

FirstCom Music 2013 Credit Reel

A blue sky sprawls between ridges frosted in deep evergreen, framing Alder Gulch much as when Native American tribes traversed this landscape 800 years ago. The town of Virginia City sprang up virtually overnight in the summer of 1863; within one year, it was the largest city in the Inland Northwest, with an estimated 10,000 residents. These days, few people continue seeking gold in Alder Gulch. But for filmmakers seeking ready-made Old West locations, the towns of Virginia City and Nevada City offer one more chance to strike it rich.
